Bake Someone's Day With Pillsbury via #DoughboySurprise #Sponsored

I can’t even begin to tell you the last time I took the time to bake something for someone. It used to be my favorite thing to do…I would spend my weekends and early mornings baking cupcakes, and then I would make my way around town delivering them to friends and family. My obsession with baking even won me the ‘Most Likely To Brighten Your Day’ superlative my senior year in high school! Yeah, that’s how often I showed up to class with homemade cupcakes in hand. 🙈

Now that I’m a bit older, I don’t know if it was really the baking aspect that I loved so much at all. I think it was the reactions and appreciation from those around me when I would show up to their door with sweet treats in hand. Turning something that I enjoyed as much as baking into a random act of kindness made it totally addictive.

Fast forward to today…I’m a stay at home working mama, wife, and small business owner. Where the heck am I supposed to find the time to bake!? It was a whole lot easier when I was 17 without a care in the world, and would quite literally skip class to perfect a new recipe. 😅 I can’t really skip out on my day to day responsibilities as easily as I once could, which honestly is a probably a good thing. But I really do miss spending that time in the kitchen baking something that I knew was going to make someone’s day!

Y’all, let’s be real here for a second, sometimes the pressure that comes with social media and a sea of gourmet dessert Pinterest recipes can be insanely overwhelming. Not to mention the fact that who really has the time to make homemade batter and frosting, and then work the frosting into a piping bag and so on and so forth? I know I don’t! That's where Pillsbury™ Filled Pastry Bags come in! I pretty much freaked out when they reached out to me about trying their new Pastry Bags from Meijer. Can you say total game changer!? It also doesn’t hurt that I have vivid memories of eating Pillsbury Chocolate Frosting by the spoonful when I was younger. This stuff is the bomb. 😂

I know I can’t be the only one who has pulled all of the ingredients in my fridge only to put them all back after realizing that it required me taking the time (that I definitely don’t have) to fill a piping bag, or finding out that I didn’t have any frosting tips or piping bags in the house. With these new Pastry Bags those worries are a thing of the past! It’s just as easy as whipping out a can of frosting from the pantry, but allows you the creative freedom to make your baked goods look as pretty as they would if you had poured each of the ingredients into the mixer yourself. Pair them with one of Pillsbury’s cake mixes, and you’ve got yourself homemade baked goods to brighten someone’s day in less than an hour. And the best part? They totally look like you spent your entire day on them! Add a few fresh garnishes like fresh strawberries on top of Devil’s Food Cupcakes with chocolate frosting like I did, and you’re good to go! Easy enough, right?

I seriously can’t wait to try the other flavors that they’ve come out with…I think I see some Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes with Pillsbury Cream Cheese Frosting in my future. 😉 If you want to try out these new Pastry Bags for yourself, you can find them in the baking aisle at Meijer! You can also save $1 on any Pillsbury Filled Pastry Bag with this mPerks digital coupon. Happy baking, friends! 💗

Baby Shower: Celebrating Emmy!

Boho Baby Shower: Celebrating Emmy via

If there's one thing that you can count on from me it's that pretty much everything in life is going to be done at the last possible minute. 😅 I mean, hey ... What's the fun of a baby shower if you're not 39 weeks pregnant and there's a possibility you could go into labor at any second? Never a dull moment around here! 😂

Last weekend we celebrated our baby girl, and y'all ... if this party was any indication, Em is already so incredibly loved. Not only speaking to the day of the shower itself, but the days and moments leading up to it. The amount of people that came together to make this celebration happen was so special, and I can't help but feel so incredibly grateful! My sweet momma worked her butt off the week leading up to the big day to make sure that everything was done perfectly, and we had a small army all ready to pitch in the day of to ensure everything fell into place.

There wasn't a single thing that I would have changed! It was an awesome afternoon celebrating our Emmy girl, and between me and you, I always kind of dread things like this! I don't do a super great job at being the center of attention, and let's be real here, having all eyes on you while you're opening gifts is always awkward, but I'm so thankful for the memories we created that day. There's a ton of photos below of the little details that made the day so great, a list of memories that I wrote down for myself so that I don't forget them, and of course outfit / all of the event details as well! ❤️

Things I don't want to forget ...

- How I could have eaten my weight in the Derby Pasta Salad ... and probably did. 😅

- The fact that my sister Court was able to change the venue at the very last minute to the clubhouse where she works ... the space could not have been more perfect!

- Texting my mom novels of messages the night before while I lettered chalkboards, and she put together the popcorn + baby succulent favors.

- How incredibly thoughtful all of the gifts Em was showered with were, but particularly those from my Aunt Susan. She handmade a quilt for Emmy, and it's the first time she had done anything like that since her mom passed away years ago. It was such a sweet moment to open that gift, and for her to tell me how she's been praying over my daughter with every stitch she's made!

- Freaking out with my mom over how stinking perfect those boho / woodland creature / sunflower sugar cookies were when we picked them up! And then how we proceeded to make sure they tasted as good as they looked on the drive home. 🙈

- Talking to both my mom and MIL separately the morning of the shower about their struggle to find baby photos I wanted to put in a frame ... My mom couldn't find any that she thought were cute enough (aka where my head wasn't cut off 😂 #firstbornprobs), and how my MIL was genuinely asking if they needed to be professional shots. Oh, how the times have changed since Sean and I were babies!

- Reading all of the sweet messages written on the 'Advice for Mom' cards, and the 'Wishes for Baby' notes.

- Sending my MIL on a wild goose chase all week for the recipe for the tropical punch (with a kick 😉) that was served at my bridal shower, and how it was totally worth it! That stuff was a hit!

- How the topic of most conversations started with betting on whether I would go into labor during the eclipse the next day! Spoiler alert: I'm still pregnant. 😅

- Cracking up because my MIL brought a pair of baby tennis shoes from when Sean was little ... My SIL and I were trying to find a place for them, but everywhere we tried ended up making them look totally creepy. You can spot them in one of the photos below. 🙈

Shower details:

Decorated Sugar Cookies:
Sweets by Millie did such an incredible job! I had a last minute order, and not only was she able to pull off 5 dozen cookies for me, she listened to and executed every detail I threw her way perfectly!

Cake + Cupcakes:
Plehn's Bakery is my go-to local spot for cakes and cupcakes ever since they nailed all of the deserts (and cake!) for our wedding ... it's a family owned small business, and they always do an awesome job!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries:
Paul's Fruit Market is another locally owned business that is just so great. The strawberries were such a hit!

Cheddar Box Cafe has Derby Pasta Salad to die for, and up until this shower, I had never had their food before! They did an awesome job, and everything was delicious!

Popcorn Station is a local spot that is literally all about gourmet popcorn! How I've lived in Louisville almost my whole life and never knew they existed I will never know ... If you end up trying them out, get the Chicago Mix. You can thank me later! 😉

Country Squire Florist is the florist I will always use. They did a beautiful job with our wedding, and did an equally as awesome job with the shower. Any florist who can give me sunflowers the size of my head will forever be my favorite.

Large Confetti Balloons:
Target is where we found the giant confetti balloon, but we didn't use the tassel that came with it. We ended up using just a plain white string from Party City when they inflated the balloon for us, and then had the florist send some greenery our way to wrap around the string with wire!

More details to note ...

Gold 'Emmy' Balloons: Party City
Mini Chalkboards: Michael's
Large Welcome Chalkboard: Hobby Lobby

Cozy Living Room Reveal With World Market

A huge thanks to World Market for sponsoring this post, and thank you for supporting the brands that make this blog possible! As always, all opinions are my own! #sponsored #worldmarkettribe #DiscoverWorldMarket

Cozy Living Room Reveal With World Market via

Guys! Our living room is almost finished! I'm so excited to finally start showing room tours from around our new home, and so thankful to World Market for helping us create the perfect cozy space. When we moved into our house the first thing I wanted to do was to get our living room together ... It's where we naturally spend a majority of our time from me working on the couch most days to date nights at home complete with all the ice cream on the weekends.

One thing that I always seem to neglect is updating our space according to different seasons ... Last year was the first time we had really decorated for Christmas, and it totally lit a fire under me! Every season I update my wardrobe with new clothes, so why wouldn't I do the same thing for our home? I mean, if we're being real here, the closest I've gotten to making our home super cozy for fall in the past is by hoarding way too many pumpkin and apple scented candles. 😅

When World Market reached out and wanted to help us breathe some of my favorite season into our space, it was a no brainer for me to say yes! I mean, have you seen their new fall collection? It's seriously amazing ... and if haven't seen it yet, you need to make a trip to your local store ASAP!

Now, back to all the cozy vibes of our new living room! One of the hardest mental blocks I've had to get over in designing this room is the color scheme ... I wanted something that would carry us through each season, but wasn't too 'in your face' bright. Y'all should've seen our second apartment ... I so wish I was blogging back then!

We literally painted EVERY single inch of that 900 sqft space. Think bright poppy orange, aqua, candy apple green, and mustard yellow. All on the walls. And also all in view from the front door. 🙈 I so wish I had some advice like this from a trusted designer back then. It would have made all the difference in the world!

Ever since recovering from the headache that those blinding walls caused for the year we lived in that apartment, I've stayed clear of bright colors. Even after swearing them off for so long, I knew that we needed a little bit of color to liven things up since there are nothing but muted and neutral tones naturally worked into the design of our house. That's where this statement rug, and all of the pillows / blankets / poufs from World Market pushed me a bit out of my comfort zone, and straight into loving some bright color again!

If I'm being honest, this rug has been totally throwing me off until recently. That hot pink in the corner? Yeah, it totally made me regret our rug choice. That is until World Market stepped in! They wanted to see a space that was super cozy and ready for fall which to me means new pillows, blankets, and accessories ... Now, this might not be your traditional view of a 'fall decorated space',  but these cozy textures seriously have made all the difference in the world!

It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of the cooler months (winter is #theworst) so keeping color in our space was a top priority for me. It's the one area that I can control, and I don't see the point in darkening things up inside when nature is already taking daylight away from us in the first place! The one thing that came to mind when I was trying to think of how I was going to bring some warmth and cozy vibes into our living room was playing with texture. Wood, leather, knit, linen, fringe, woven fabric ... all of those textures played a huge part in making our space ready for the new season without compromising our color scheme!

So, what do you think? I'm personally totally in love with everything about this space now, but you know, I also designed it. 🙈 If you're a decorating pro, or have any advice for me, let me know! All of the room details (including all of this sweet stuff from World Market) is all linked at the bottom of this post! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go curl up with one of these cozy throw blankets, light one of my favorite fall candles (you need this one and this one in your life), and pretend like it's not still 90 degrees outside. Happy Weekend! ❤️
