Plants in Hunter Rain Boots

While scrolling through Pinterest, as I typically do at any moment of any given day, I have noticed an incredible amount of photographs taken that feature Hunter Rain Boots.  No surprise since they are absolutely adorable, but what has been shocking to me is that people are planting things in them.  Like, legitimate soil and things sprouting from them, planting.

Now, don't get me wrong.  They look super cute on the many front porches I've seen them on, but really?  I'm calling a Seth Meyers SNL "Really" on this trend.  Really, people?  You're going to purchase $100+ rain boots and fill them with dirt?  Please someone explain this trend to me, because I can tell you right now ... If I spent $100 on a pair of boots those babies would be on my feet and not chilling on my front porch exposed to the elements with dirt in them.  Like, what?  Who else is totally confused by this trend?
