Little Lace Romper

Little Lace Romper www.chelceytate.com @target @dswshoelovers @freepeople

First of all, happy first day of summer! It's hard to believe that it's already time to put those jean jackets away, and we're officially in for some serious Kentucky heat in the coming months. This year has seriously flown by. Speaking of the year being halfway over (say what?), I actually hit a pretty huge goal of mine for 2016 a few days ago! I officially have 10,000 BEAUTIFUL people following me on Instagram ... The fact that I accomplished this year long goal in just 6 months is blowing my mind, and to celebrate/thank you, I've put together a pretty huge giveaway that you don't want to miss! Click over here to check it out!

Ok, now onto the good stuff. Y'all know I'm all about keeping things as simple as possible when it comes to my personal style, and rompers like this one make it pretty darn easy! I'm typically a sundress kind of girl this time of year, but as soon as I saw this romper at Target, I knew I couldn't pass it up. Well, that and the fact the wind lately has been insane, and if I accidentally flash one more person in a parking lot while I'm carrying stuff out to my car I might just be arrested.

Coming by this perfect little lace romper wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world, either. Nothing makes you appreciate a piece of clothing more than having to work for it! The first time around, they were sold out in my size in store, and it wasn't registered online yet. I tried on the navy version, which is equally as cute, but the white lace version with that embroidered pop of color just felt so me ... So, I waited.

I'm more of a "good things come to those who work for it" kind of girl, but in this case, I showed up to Target a few weeks later, and there it was. The romper that I will totally be living in all summer long in MY SIZE. You already know I let out a little squeal of excitement, and immediately started sending photos of it to everyone (and by everyone, I totally mean my husband who could probably care less + my mom) who had already heard my sob story of not being able to find this darn thing in a size medium. It's the little things, am I right?

Well, that's all I have for you today! Shoutout to my crazy talented hubby for these photos, and for dealing with me on a 15 minute speedboat ride from our houseboat into the marina so that we could snap these photos on our vacation last week ... I made my soon-to-be hair stylist of a little sister help me with my hair, so I was not about to let a little wind mess it up before we got proper documentation! How I got so unbelievably lucky with this family of mine, I will never know.

Do you have a similar story to this one about having to hunt down a piece of clothing that was love at first sight? Did you enter the giveaway over on Instagram? Drop a comment below + let's get this conversation started!

7 Day Hydration Challenge / chelceytate.com + CVS Pharmacy

Raise your hand if you're THE WORST about staying hydrated. I don't know about you, but my hands are raised as high as they can go! Most of the time I don't feel the physical effects of being dehydrated, but in the Summer? It's pretty much impossible to ignore ... Especially with the killer headaches that come with it! Oh, the headaches ...

Right now I'm sitting in the middle of Lake Cumberland on a houseboat, and if there's anytime to remember to drink enough fluids, it's when you're on the lake for an entire week. When we kicked off our vacation, I stuck to my typical routine ... Spending most of my day with little water, and a whole lot of the stuff that's not going to keep those headaches at bay. Think salty snacks, and more caffeine than anyone should probably be consuming. Yeah, I regretted those decisions REAL quick.

I know I can't be the only one who is pretty much the worst at remembering to stay hydrated. Actually, I know for a fact I'm not! Did you know that most Americans are chronically dehydrated and have absolutely no idea? Well, friends, I don't know about you, but dry hair, headaches, and early wrinkles (no thank you!), are not exactly the things that I'm striving for.

Fast forward to five days into my vacation, and I have an invitation for you! I decided shortly after having one of the worst migraines of my life that I needed to make a change. Enter my week long hydration challenge! Are you ready to take control of your health this Summer? I'd love for you to join me! To make sure that you're as prepared for the week ahead as possible, I've put together some tips + tricks to guarantee that you reach your end goal of kicking off a habit of staying hydrated all Summer long!

KEEP TRACK

One of the easiest ways to stay on track with your hydration is by simply paying attention. Whether you go old school with pen and paper, or choose something more convenient like an app on your phone, it'll be sure to keep your hydration in the front of your mind! Sean surprised me with a Fitbit a few months ago, so their app is my favorite in terms of tracking how many of the good fluids I've been putting into my body!

FIND YOUR FAVORITES

This is SO important! I can't tell you how difficult it is to stay hydrated if it feels like a chore, but if you find something you really enjoy? You'll forget you're even doing a challenge! I'm swapping out (most) of my bubbly caffeinated beverages out with my favorite flavors of vitaminwater (Power-C, Essential + XXX), and making sure I have smartwater stocked in the fridge will be totally essential to keeping me on track.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

I may be out in the middle of a lake right now, but I can't even begin to tell you how much easier staying hydrated will be once I get back home! We have a CVS less than a mile away from our house, so when I need to restock on my hydration essentials, it'll be so simple to just pop in and grab what I need! It definitely helps that CVS has teamed up with Coca-Cola to make sure that we stay hydrated all Summer long by offering some really great promotions!

Be sure to stop by your local CVS to take advantage of their "Spend $5, get $2 in ExtraBucks in-store with your CVS ExtraCare Rewards Card" deal! It's the perfect opportunity to stock up on all of your favorites for the challenge week ahead!

DO IT TOGETHER

Married? Have a roommate? Do it together! Having an accountability partner with challenges like this is SO important. The youngest of my little sisters is teaming up with me on this one while we're on the lake, and you better believe I'm dragging Sean into this once we get back home! Trust me, it will be a whole lot easier to reach your hydration goals if you know someone else is counting on you to reach theirs as well!

Your vibe attracts your tribe

With all of the noise that comes and goes in the blogging world, one of the hardest things to do is to keep your blinders on and stay true to who you are. I can't tell you how many times I've read that in order to be successful online you have to be writing for, and catering to, one specific person. Well, friends, today I made the decision that the person I'm writing for is someone that's a lot like me.

I'm a wife who's been saved by grace, puppy momma to the sweetest husky in the world, big sister to four, and a serious lover of the low maintenance lifestyle, but I'm also an incredibly driven small business owner, blogger, hand lettering artist, and someone who knows a heck of a lot about the creative world and marketing. The quote "your vibe attracts your tribe" has been ringing in my head lately, and I don't know about you, but I want my tribe to be people who I can lean on personally, professionally, and spiritually.

It's been a while since I've sat down to just write, and I think a lot of that has to do with me being confused as to who exactly I was writing for. I want to share my personal style, recipes that I love, my faith, and my marriage, but I've also had the longing to write about what I'm personally going through as a small business owner, blogger, and creative, but according to the traditional rules, that's not always the right thing for me to do in this space.

This morning as I sat down to write this post, I decided that I'm going to break the rules. This space has turned into a blog mostly documenting my laid back style, and while I absolutely love that aspect of it, that's just not all I have to say. I want to get back to the place where I was sharing what was on my heart, and what's actually going on in my life. Now that I blog and design full time, my days are filled with the ins and outs of being a small business owner who works from home, and I want to share more of that.

I'll write out an entire post, and just let it hang out in my drafts because I don't feel like anyone will be interested in reading what I have to say about my life or the struggles of a small business owner. I absolutely love what I do, and I am immensely blessed to be able to make a living out of something I'm so passionate about, but that doesn't mean there aren't hardships along the way. I've always refrained from writing those kinds of posts in fear that they would be taken the wrong way, or I would be shamed because someone else is still working at their day job and I'm over here venting about living out my wildest dreams ...

Let's get real for a second -- people either love you or they hate you, but if they're somewhere in the middle, then you're doing something wrong. I'm a serious people pleaser, and I've always been afraid that I'm going to disappoint readers if I start infusing some of my actual life and passions into this space, but I think that's where I have it wrong. I saw a quote floating around from Dave Grohl that says no one is you, and that is your power. Sure, it may be unconventional to share my daily life, style, recipes, tips on blogging, marketing, faith, and marriage all in one space, but this is chelceytate.com, and all of those things make up who I am. Maybe the posts that I've been keeping to myself are the ones that need to get out into the world most ... You never know if you don't try, right?

Want to read more posts like this? Click over to my new category -- For Creatives! Not a blogger, small business owner, or a creative? Don't worry! This post isn't some big announcement that I'm switching gears entirely. I'm just going to be sprinkling in these types of posts every once in a while. Who knows, you might just be able to apply whatever I'm writing about at the time to your own life! In the spirit of keeping things real, if you're still reading this novel of a blog post, thanks for sticking with me. As always, you're the best!

What do you think about these kinds of posts? Are you a fan? Do they inspire you? Drop a comment below, because this space would be nothing without this incredible community of people I have surrounding me!
