Black, White + Flannel

Black, White + Flannel via www.chelceytate.com

With this crazy warm weather I really feel like I should be posting something a little bit more colorful, but when it comes to my closet, you're guaranteed to see a lot of black, gray, and some more black ... I'm thinking I might need an intervention of some sort. Maybe Spring will inject some color into my wardrobe? Probably not, but it sounds good, doesn't it? :)

Speaking of color, I used to be ALL about the flannel shirts, but some lucky ladies, who just so happen to be my four little sisters, hit the jackpot when I decided they weren't my style anymore. Not only did they get mine, but we let them have their pick at Sean's, too. I don't know what I was thinking, because finding a well fitting button down is no easy task these days! Not to mention I could totally be rocking some of Sean's flannels with leggings and boots ... Note to self: stop giving away all of your stuff!

When it comes to button downs, I'm always a little hesitant. It could be the fact that I had to wear a uniform in high school, and button downs always remind me of my plaid skirt, white blouse, and red sweater vest days ... Yeah, that was a weekly occurrence in this so-far-from-preppy girl's wardrobe. That is, until I stumbled upon this buffalo check boyfriend flannel from Madewell. It's long, comfortable, and loose fitting ... Everything that a good flannel should be!

Speaking of everything that a great piece of clothing should be, I've been feeling the black on black on black trend lately (just in case you haven't noticed). I wore this outfit (minus the cardigan + I swapped my black booties for these ones) to a pop up shop last month that I was a part of with Louisville Magazine, and received SO many compliments. I really love how effortless a good button down is ... It can make you look totally put together, laid back, and polished all at the same time. Hey, you know me - I'm all about making it look like I put a ton of effort into my look while also making it as easy as possible! Low maintenance girl probs, I know.
