Raise your hand if you're THE WORST about staying hydrated. I don't know about you, but my hands are raised as high as they can go! Most of the time I don't feel the physical effects of being dehydrated, but in the Summer? It's pretty much impossible to ignore ... Especially with the killer headaches that come with it! Oh, the headaches ...
Right now I'm sitting in the middle of Lake Cumberland on a houseboat, and if there's anytime to remember to drink enough fluids, it's when you're on the lake for an entire week. When we kicked off our vacation, I stuck to my typical routine ... Spending most of my day with little water, and a whole lot of the stuff that's not going to keep those headaches at bay. Think salty snacks, and more caffeine than anyone should probably be consuming. Yeah, I regretted those decisions REAL quick.
I know I can't be the only one who is pretty much the worst at remembering to stay hydrated. Actually, I know for a fact I'm not! Did you know that most Americans are chronically dehydrated and have absolutely no idea? Well, friends, I don't know about you, but dry hair, headaches, and early wrinkles (no thank you!), are not exactly the things that I'm striving for.
Fast forward to five days into my vacation, and I have an invitation for you! I decided shortly after having one of the worst migraines of my life that I needed to make a change. Enter my week long hydration challenge! Are you ready to take control of your health this Summer? I'd love for you to join me! To make sure that you're as prepared for the week ahead as possible, I've put together some tips + tricks to guarantee that you reach your end goal of kicking off a habit of staying hydrated all Summer long!
One of the easiest ways to stay on track with your hydration is by simply paying attention. Whether you go old school with pen and paper, or choose something more convenient like an app on your phone, it'll be sure to keep your hydration in the front of your mind! Sean surprised me with a Fitbit a few months ago, so their app is my favorite in terms of tracking how many of the good fluids I've been putting into my body!
FIND YOUR FAVORITES
This is SO important! I can't tell you how difficult it is to stay hydrated if it feels like a chore, but if you find something you really enjoy? You'll forget you're even doing a challenge! I'm swapping out (most) of my bubbly caffeinated beverages out with my favorite flavors of vitaminwater (Power-C, Essential + XXX), and making sure I have smartwater stocked in the fridge will be totally essential to keeping me on track.

The youngest of my little sisters is teaming up with me on this one while we're on the lake, and you better believe I'm dragging Sean into this once we get back home! Trust me, it will be a whole lot easier to reach your hydration goals if you know someone else is counting on you to reach theirs as well!
