An Open Letter to My Momma

Sweet Momma -

Oh, where do I even begin? Over the last 23 years, there has always been one constant in my life, and that's the fact that you're my very best friend. Growing up together has given us a special bond that most mothers and daughters don't have the opportunity to have, and for that, I am so thankful.

I have no idea where I'd be today if it wasn't for your constant support and encouragement. You've guided me through pretty much every single major decision I've ever had to make ... You were always the "cool mom" growing up that my friends were totally jealous of because we had the kind of relationship where I could tell you everything. There were very few details of my life that you weren't totally clued in on, and now even years later, little has changed.

You have always encouraged me to pursue the things that I love, and seeing you chase your dreams when I was growing up gave me the courage to do the same. You've never once complained about my 100+ phone calls a day ... Whether it's because I've just gotten in my car and I still have the habit from high school of always letting you know where I'm going, or I'm calling to use you as a sounding board for whatever crazy thing I have happening in my life at the moment.

From fueling my creative spirit by giving me art supplies for Christmas, teaching me to stand up for myself, showing me the value of speaking my mind no mater what, and teaching me to find joy in the little things in life, there is absolutely nothing more I could ever ask for in a mother. Not to mention the fact that you're doing this whole mom thing 5 times over! We're the luckiest girls in the world.

I am so thankful to have been your first, the one who made you a mother, and the one that got to grow up with you. Happy Mother's Day to my forever best friend and my momma ... I love you!
