Can someone please explain to me how we're already so far into summer? The fact that it’s crazy hot outside, hanging by the pool is an option every day, and we’re only a little over a month out from the arrival of our sweet Emmy girl is blowing my mind. Every summer I make a bucket list of things that I want to do, but this year is a little different as we prepare for our last couple of months as a family of two!

I mean, if we’re being honest here, if you give me some sunshine, tan lines, popsicles, time near the water with my people, and a (literally ice cold) Dr Pepper, I’m pretty much set for a perfect summer. We had all of that and a whole lot more a few weeks ago when we were on Lake Cumberland for my family’s annual houseboat trip which is where all of these photos are from!

So, let’s get to it! Here are just a few of the things that I’ve narrowed down from my list that I want to do before the end of the summer!

Find A Favorite Farmer’s Market

There are so many awesome farmer’s markets around Louisville that we have yet to explore. I’ve wanted to find one that we really love for a couple of years now to support local businesses, pick up my weekly flower run, and stock up on our fruits and veggies for the week ahead! I have a feeling it’ll be a lot easier for us to jump from market to market without a new baby in tow. 😉

Create the perfect Dr Pepper Ice Cream Float recipe

One of my favorite things to do at my grandparent’s house in the summer when I was growing up was to make homemade peach and strawberry ice cream. My love for ice cream has definitely stuck around as an adult + my favorite sweet treat these days is a really good Ice Cream Soda Float. It’s probably no surprise that I’m working on putting one together with my number one drink of choice … Dr Pepper! Seriously, y’all. How good does that sound! I’ll definitely be sharing the recipe once I find the perfect flavor of homemade ice cream to pair with Dr Pepper ... Heading out to Walmart to pick up all the ingredients later this afternoon for another trial run! It’s going to be the bomb, I promise. 🙌

Go to an outdoor concert

One of mine and Sean’s favorite things to do together is to go to a show + jam out to really great live music. It’s one of the first things that we bonded over when we started dating seven years ago, and music is something that we are both still crazy passionate about! There are so many great artists heading to Louisville this summer, and you can bet that we’ll be at a majority of their shows!

Spend a week at the lake

Like I mentioned in the start of this post, I can already check this one off my list! I just got back a few weeks ago from spending an entire week at Lake Cumberland on a houseboat with my entire family. We’ve been taking this trip for about fifteen years now, and it’s the perfect opportunity for us to disconnect from the world for an entire week! As me and all of my sisters get older, I think we’re starting to appreciate the time to get out in nature and disconnect a little bit more. We go out fishing every morning and night, explore different coves in the kayaks (y'all should've seen me getting in and out of this thing being 7 months pregnant at the time 😂), jet ski until our hearts are content (I seriously missed doing that this year!), and just spend quality time together that we so rarely get to experience.

Take a weekend trip

Something that I’ve been consistently reminding Sean over the last few weeks is that I’d really love to take a quick weekend trip before Emerson gets here. Whether it’s a quick trip to Nashville for a concert and to explore the city, or heading up to Cincinnati to go to the zoo and IKEA … Either way, I think it’d be fun to get away just the two of us for a few days to disconnect, and spend some time just hanging out without any distractions.

There are so many other things that I could add to this list, but I’m trying this new thing where I’m trying to not totally overwhelm myself. 😂 We already have so many things planned to do with work, getting our new house put together, and preparing for our sweet girl’s arrival that I thought it’d be best to keep this list short + sweet! Which of these bucket list items are you going to be adding to your list? Let’s be real here, I’m really looking forward to that Dr Pepper Ice Cream Float + I’m kind of kicking myself that I haven’t checked that one off my list yet. 😅
